Janet Minyoso Mukoshi has selflessly served her community as a dedicated Community Health Promoter and WASH champion in Navakholo Sub-County, Kakamega County For the past 7 years, . Through her work with CABDA, supported by Blood Water, Janet has transformed lives by promoting safe water use, improved sanitation, and healthy hygiene practices.
Janet has mobilized and trained 32 Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) groups comprising over 900 caregivers, helping families strengthen their economic stability through collective savings of Kshs 2.29 million. Her efforts have empowered households to pay school fees, access healthcare, improve nutrition, and invest in small businesses and agribusiness activities.
Through monthly home visits reaching 562 community members, sanitation forums, school health sessions, and community dialogues, Janet has inspired lasting behaviour change contributing to safer environments, improved hygiene practices, and reduced waterborne diseases. Her leadership has also supported the construction of improved latrines, safe water access points, and household handwashing facilities.
Compassionate, committed, and purpose-driven, Janet leads by example and continues to inspire women, youth, and families to take ownership of their health and livelihoods. CABDA proudly celebrates Janet as the winner of 2025 Community Hero of the Year Award!
