The world is facing climate change which is impacting on temperatures as well as rainfall patterns. This threatens communities and their livelihoods given its impact on agriculture, water and health (through disease prevalence). It also threatens the survival of various species of plants, animals, insects, reptiles and amphibians as temperatures, rainfall patterns and habitats change. Though the impact of climate change on the ecosystem the fate of communities and species living around Western Kenya is not known.
This focus area fosters SDG 13 that aims at taking urgent action in combating climate change and its impact.. As a need to conserve the environment, CABDA advocates for environmental conservation through participatory approaches in involving families and communities especially the marginalized and vulnerable populations. Multisectoral approach is key in linking with potential funders and stakeholders in climate financing to ensure sustainability of interventions towards mitigating climate change.
CABDA capacity-builds and creates awareness to families and communities on some of the best practices to realize a friendly and conducive ecosystem to live in. Through the focus area children,youth , women within their families and communities are equipped with skills and knowledge to enable them navigate through the ecosystem with transformative measures to improve living standards and reduce suffering from health complications caused by pollution and consumption of artificially produced foods and further conserve the environment and addressing food security through adoption of new methods of farming and use of technology.
