Maji Safi Maisha Bora Project - Navakholo

The project provides sustainable improvement in access to safe and clean water, improved sanitation and hygiene at household and schools in Navakholo sub county of Kakamega county. This is done through protection natural springs within villages. construction of VIP latrines and ferro cement water tanks in schools, training of community health volunteers (CHVs), training and formation of school health clubs, training of schools’ management committees, training of water and sanitation management committees and water user groups. Working closely with TB and OVCs project, the project ensures that water users are provided with vegetable seeds for nutrition purposes and sell of the surplus for operation and maintenance of their springs.
Emukoye Water Scheme Project - Butere

The project provides sustainable improvement in access to safe and clean water, improved sanitation and hygiene at household level. This is being done by developing a natural spring into a water project scheme for households and institutional connections. The project also constructs slaps, septic tanks and soak pits for each household that is water connected for improved sanitation as well as provision of bathroom slaps plus showers for hygiene. Schools in the project area are also provided with VIP latrines. The project also promotes good hygiene practices through training community health volunteers (CHVs) on children hygiene and sanitation. The other activities include economic empowerment of the household (water users) by training and provision of small loans/ vegetable seeds to set up businesses/ kitchen gardens so that income generated can enable them to pay for water bills for operation and maintenance of the project. The project has also established and trained various committees and sub committees to oversee project activities and ensure sustainability
